This video from Airbus showcases the capabilities of its Flexrotor, a Group 2 VTOL UAS designed for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions on land and at sea.
The Flexrotor features a vertical takeoff and landing capability from a launch area measuring only 3.7 x 3.7 m. It efficiently transitions into forward flight, with the tilt-rotor design tipping its 2-m body easily from vertical to horizontal mode, where it cruises on a 3-m wingspan.
The VTOL UAS provides an 8 kg payload capacity in its compartments, carrying payloads such as an infrared camera, sensors, and a communications relay, as shown in this video.
Airbus’ Flexrotor is compact, requiring no complex infrastructure or personnel, and can be launched easily from land or confined areas at sea. Its efficient fuel consumption enables long-range missions with 14 to 30 hours of endurance.
