The MostaTech G321M Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) is a three-axis FOG designed for high-dynamic unmanned systems, including UAVs, ROVs, USVs, and gimbal stabilization platforms.
The G321M provides precise motion and orientation measurement in applications requiring low-noise performance and robust durability. The G321M builds on MostaTech’s previous 3-axis FOGs, including the G181 series.
Key specifications include:
- Bias Stability: 1°/h RMS
- Angle Random Walk (ARW): 0.025°/√h
- Input Range: 400°/s
- Bandwidth: 1 kHz
- Magnetic Immunity: 0.3°/h/Gauss
- Operating Temperature: -40°C to +70°C (endurance -55°C to +85°C)
- Weight: 145 grams
- Housing: Aluminum alloy with internal μ-metal magnetic shielding
- Power Consumption: 2 watts
Weighing just 145 grams, the G321M features an aluminum alloy housing with internal μ-metal magnetic shielding, ensuring mechanical robustness while maintaining compact dimensions suitable for integration in size-constrained platforms. Its low power consumption of 2 watts further enhances its suitability for UAVs and battery-operated systems. The gyroscope offers a fully integrated three-channel ADC board providing an 8 kHz output data rate for high-dynamic applications.
Construction and Design
The G321 uses 40-micron polarization maintaining (PM) optical fiber and is built with a proprietary in-line technology where all fiber optic components are fabricated directly on a single fiber length. This spliceless fabrication of couplers, polarizer, and SLD module makes them naturally connected without optical losses. That, in turn, results in low noise performance and low power onsumption of the FOG.
Applications
The G321M is suitable for:
- UAV Navigation and Flight Control: Orientation and motion measurement for autonomous flight systems.
- Gimbal and Image Stabilization: Motion sensing for stable imaging platforms.
- ROVs, USVs, and Robotics: Motion tracking for unmanned systems operating in complex environments.
- Borehole Surveying: Orientation measurement in underground or constrained environments.
The G321M continues MostaTech’s development of compact FOG-based IMUs, providing stable, low-noise measurements suitable for integration in unmanned systems.
