HOBBYWING outlines the Controller Area Network (CAN) communication capabilities of its H-Series industrial Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs), including the XRotor Pro H110A 14S FOC / BLDC / BLDC IPC ESCs.
As UAV systems continue to develop toward greater levels of intelligence, CAN communication is widely used for its reliability, anti-interference capability, and scalability.
The H110A supports both the open-source DroneCAN protocol and the customizable HWCAN protocol for a range of industrial applications. Its CAN protocol interworks with mainstream flight controllers, supporting fast deployment with platforms including ArduPilot, PX4, VK, BOYING, and ACFly. Through CAN communication, the flight controller can manage the propulsion system while receiving real-time telemetry covering motor RPM, throttle, current, voltage, and temperature data.
Configuration, Dual Throttle Control & Flight Data
Using DataLinkBox, flight controllers, or other CAN-based tools, operators can configure propulsion parameters through the HWCAN protocol. These include drive params, motor rotation direction, LED indicator colors, and propeller angle settings. H110A ESC firmware can also be upgraded through DataLinkBox.
The H110A ESC supports CAN + PWM dual throttle control, enabling seamless signal switching under abnormal conditions and improving flight safety.
A built-in black box can store between 2 and 48 hours of flight logs. This data can be retrieved through the CAN bus to support fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and reduced maintenance costs.
CAN Communication Across the H-Series
All ESCs in HOBBYWING’s H-Series industrial UAV lineup support CAN communication. Selected models also use a CAN + RS485 dual-bus architecture, providing stronger signal stability, enhanced EMI resistance, and greater system compatibility.
