Greek Unmanned Aircraft Systems developer ALTUS-LSA and Romanian state-owned defense company S. CARFIL S.A. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership across unmanned systems, interceptor technologies, and industrial defense manufacturing.
Under the terms of the agreement, CARFIL will supply ammunition tailored for ALTUS-LSA’s interceptor systems. The collaboration brings together ALTUS-LSA’s technical capabilities in designing and integrating advanced unmanned platforms with CARFIL’s extensive heritage in manufacturing armaments and ammunition.
Founded in 1922 and headquartered in Brașov, Romania, CARFIL operates as a subsidiary of state-owned defense firm C.N. ROMARM S.A. The company brings a long-standing tradition in armaments manufacturing, and its industrial facilities will be utilized for testing, evaluating, and demonstrating advanced unmanned solutions under the new agreement.

The partnership lays the groundwork for joint industrial production of ALTUS-LSA’s heavy-lift platforms and interceptor systems within Romania. Both organizations will explore knowledge and technology transfers alongside cooperative efforts in research, training, technical assistance, and commercial promotion across Greece, Romania, and international markets.
Commenting on the partnership between ALTUS-LSA and S. CARFIL S.A., Zacharias Sarris, CEO of ALTUS-LSA, said, “Our partnership with S. CARFIL S.A. is an important step towards building strong Greek-Romanian cooperation in defence. By combining ALTUS-LSA’s technological expertise with CARFIL’s industrial capabilities and experience, we aim to develop solutions that enhance the operational readiness and interoperability of the armed forces, while creating opportunities for a joint presence in allied and international markets.”
Phys. Mircea Petru Tantau, General Manager of S. CARFIL S.A., said, “For CARFIL, this partnership is an opportunity to leverage our experience and industrial capabilities through joint programmes that deliver high added value. We believe that strategic cooperation between European companies can make a meaningful contribution to the development of new technologies, the strengthening of the manufacturing base and the creation of competitive solutions for the markets of the future.”
Through this agreement, both companies intend to establish a relationship designed to expand their combined operational impact and strengthen their industrial presence in allied defense sectors.
