Ground control station manufacturer Desert Rotor has officially rebranded as Desert Robotics to reflect its expansion into full-stack robotics, artificial intelligence autonomy, and networked command and control systems.
The strategic update represents an expansion of the existing business model rather than a change in direction, with ground control stations remaining core to the enterprise. The company’s hardware systems are currently deployed globally and across multiple branches of the U.S. military.
Desert Robotics is building a full-stack architecture around its hardware foundation by pairing rugged systems with software services and recurring command-and-control capabilities. Its platform includes the MIRA X flagship portable station for defense, commercial, public safety, and R&D operations, alongside the newly released COMMAND XD2. The XD2 is a 24-channel countertop unit supporting more than six radio system interfaces, multi-protocol control, and advanced compute power for integration into command centers, vehicles, and trailers. The company is also preparing to open preorders for its next-generation handheld unit, the STINGER XS.
To manage complex operational environments, the company is introducing CEREBRO Virtual Command, a software-defined layer designed to extend control into distributed, multi-vehicle, and beyond visual line of sight operations across tactical radios, 5G/LTE, mesh, and SATCOM networks. Complementing the software layer is CEREBRO AI, which adds artificial intelligence-assisted mission planning, decision support, data analysis, and autonomous workflows to complete the modular command platform.
