Amprius Technologies has appointed Intralink to spearhead its expansion into South Korea as the company seeks to capitalize on the region’s growing demand for advanced battery solutions.
The Silicon Valley-based innovator specializes in high-performance silicon anode lithium-ion cells designed for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), robotics, aerospace, and electric mobility. These sectors rely heavily on battery performance to determine critical operational factors such as flight time, payload capacity, and system range. By establishing a presence in Korea, Amprius aims to tap into a market where increasing defense expenditure is driving rapid investment in next-generation drone technologies.
The strategic importance of South Korea is further highlighted by its defense contractors, who are actively exporting drone platforms and related technologies to international allies. Amprius’ ultra-high energy density cells are engineered to provide longer flight times and extended operational life, which reduces the frequency of recharging. Additionally, the cells enable greater power output, supporting the higher acceleration and heavier payloads required by defense organizations and commercial drone delivery services.
To support this growth, Amprius established a manufacturing network in Korea late last year to ensure proximity to its potential customer base. The company currently supplies batteries directly to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and collaborates with battery pack manufacturers to integrate its cells into larger systems.
A dedicated business development program has been launched in Seoul to identify and prioritize opportunities within the local drone and robotics ecosystems. This initiative includes targeted engagement with prospective partners and the development of a sales pipeline.
Ronnie Tao, VP of Sales at Amprius, said, “Korea represents an important market for advanced battery technologies, driven by growing investments in drone and robotics innovation across both the defense and commercial sectors. To succeed in Asia, it’s essential to partner with local experts who not only understand how business is done but have deep networks in key industries. Intralink brings exactly this expertise to the table. We’re excited to collaborate with their team in Seoul to accelerate our growth and establish Amprius as a leader in Korea’s evolving UAV and robotics landscape.”
