SES AI has converted its Chungju, South Korea facility, established in 2021, to produce high-energy density AI-enhanced NDAA-compliant cells for drone applications, and is offering exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to VIP customers.
In addition to being NDAA-compliant, the cells produced in Chungju also show best-in-class performance across multiple categories including Energy, Balanced, and Power cell designs compared with peers in the industry.
SES AI, established in 2012, is a global leader in high-energy density AI-enhanced silicon Li-ion and Li-Metal cells for drones, UAV, EV and eVTOL applications. It has manufacturing sites in both Boston, established in 2015, and Chungju, South Korea, established in 2021. SES AI is also the first battery company in the world to utilize super intelligent AI. Its platform Molecular Universe offers a complete workflow agent that accelerates material discovery and product validation.
NDAA-Compliant
SES has invested over $100m in an NDAA-compliant cell manufacturing facility in Chungju, South Korea as part of its joint development with General Motors and local Chungcheongbukdo and Chungju governments since 2021. This facility has been converted from making EV form factor cells to drone cells. With cathode, anode, and other materials sourced from Korean suppliers, SES AI has now started delivering cells out of its Chungju facility to drone customers around the world for both qualification and commercial supply. Now SES AI is offering exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to its most valuable customers. Drones are one of the largest beneficiaries of all the EV-related investments, in terms of technology and supply chain.

Exclusive Behind-the-scenes Tour at Korea Facility
SES AI is offering exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to both existing VIP customers and new clients at their NDAA-compliant mass production factory in Chungju, South Korea. Book here to request a tour and gain in-depth insights into SES’ development and manufacturing capabilities.
Best-In-Class Performance
In addition to being NDAA-compliant, the cells produced in Chungju also show best-in-class performance across multiple categories including Energy, Balanced, and Power cell designs compared with peers in the industry.

AI-Enhanced
The key technology that enables best-in-class performance and fast optimization for customer requirements is SES AI’s AI platform, Molecular Universe. It has mapped all the battery-relevant properties of 10^8 and growing small molecules in the universe suitable for energy storage applications, and has automated a workflow agent that takes a prompt from a user, “Ask”, and filters through single-molecule “Search”, formulation properties “Formulate” (simulated dry data calibrated by ground-truth experimental wet data collected by autonomous labs), and cell performance predictions “Design” and “Predict” (machine learning models trained on high-quality, large amounts of cell data). The system iterates more than 100× faster than humans until the optimal electrolyte formulation is confirmed.
This allows SES AI to quickly optimize drone performance for demanding cold-weather combat theaters, as well as extreme hot-weather combat theaters.
