Trimble Applanix is scheduled to host an intensive educational workshop and panel session focused on the fundamentals and best practices of high-precision mapping during Geo Week 2026.
The session, titled “A Practical Guide for Airborne, Land, and Marine High Precision Mapping,” will take place on February 16, 2026, from 8am-12pm MT in Room 605. This technical program is designed to support a broad range of professionals, including decision-makers, engineers, technologists, and subject matter experts, as well as students entering the field. The session will be moderated by Mohamed Mostafa of Trimble Applanix.
The curriculum focuses on the integration of LiDAR and camera systems to achieve high-accuracy results in diverse operating environments. Key technical areas of the workshop include inertial navigation (IMU) and GNSS concepts, alongside specialized procedures for airborne and land data acquisition, calibration, and quality control.
Participants will also explore the methodology behind surveying without a base station, examining both the operational workflow and the resulting accuracy levels. The session concludes with a breakdown of industry best practices for map production.
While registration for the workshop is free, it is not automatically included with general Geo Week admission. Interested attendees must add the session to their schedule through the standard event registration process.
