Sunhillo, a developer of surveillance data distribution and conversion systems for manned and unmanned aircraft, has successfully incorporated FIPS 140-3 validation into its SureLine® and SureSentry product families, marking a key milestone in product security and compliance.
The company achieved this milestone through the integration of its validated Sunhillo Cryptographic Module software, which carries NIST Certificate #5003. This means that the SureLine platform and its associated surveillance products are now “FIPS 140-3 Validated.” Products utilizing this certified cryptographic module include Sunhillo’s Brigantine SGP, Longport, RICI, Ventnor, Margate, and SureSentry Data Diode product solutions.
FIPS 140-3 is a globally recognized benchmark for cryptographic security, providing assurance to organizations handling sensitive data that their systems are protected against sophisticated threats.
The SureLine products leverage this certified cryptographic module to provide validated cryptography for the protection of sensitive information where encryption is used, such as with HTTPS and SSH. By adopting FIPS 140-3, Sunhillo aims to proactively address emerging cybersecurity threats and maintain a strong security posture for its solutions.
The SureLine Software Suite acts as the core of Sunhillo’s surveillance gateway products. It offers functionalities like conversion, translation, and other transforms that facilitate the bridging of dissimilar networks, data analysis, and the connection of surveillance sources to air-traffic automation systems.
Sunhillo Data Diodes, including the standalone SureSentry and Brigantine Data Diode, are designed to protect network integrity by strictly enforcing a one-way-only data flow from a source network to a separate network. This is accomplished through a 100% hardware-enforced security protocol that cannot be disabled or bypassed.
In situations where data must be shared from a protected network to one with a different security posture, it is essential to ensure that no data or control communication from the unsecure side can reach the secure side. This protects the safety and integrity of secure network assets against inbound cyberattacks.
By using the FIPS 140-3 certified Sunhillo Data Diodes, organizations, governments, and military entities can minimize the risk of data breaches, cyber-attacks, and other security incidents.
