Tritech’s new Gemini 1200id sonar enhances unmanned underwater operations, providing high-resolution imaging for work class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), featuring advanced noise reduction, dual-frequency operation, and improved target clarity.

The Gemini 1200id multi-beam sonar builds on the robust platforms of the standard Gemini 720is sonar. It offers improved attenuation of waterborne electrical noise, ensuring maximum imaging efficiency for unmanned applications.

The Gemini 1200id delivers a wide 120° horizontal field of view at both 720 kHz and 1200 kHz acoustic frequencies. Its integrated speed-of-sound sensor improves positional accuracy, allowing for precise target display. CHIRP processing also enhances target separation over extended ranges.

Fully compatible with Tritech’s Genesis software package, the Gemini 1200id allows seamless control of multiple Tritech devices, optimizing user interaction with unmanned systems. Software development kits (SDKs) are available for both Windows and Linux platforms.

The sonar achieves advanced imaging performance through an in-house developed analogue front-end solution with fully differential receiver channels, enhancing acoustic signal reception. Optimized internal circuitry and additional filtering reduce self-generated noise, while the system actively minimizes interference from nearby subsea equipment.

These enhancements result in a cleaner acoustic background, with sharp, bright sonar returns that produce exceptionally clear and detailed images—critical for unmanned underwater navigation, inspection, and data collection.
