Aegis Power Systems VPX AC-DC Power ConverterAegis Power Systems has launched a new single-phase AC-DC power supply unit (PSU) in the 3U VPX form factor that has been developed in alignment with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) technical standard for use in interoperable systems for sensor management. The VPX1PH3UC310-SA takes a 85-264Vac input and provides a dual output with 310 watts maximum power and EMI filtering.

By aligning with the SOSA technical standards, the new PSU supports the US Department of Defense’s Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) initiative by providing an interoperable AC-DC power supply solution. This makes it ideal for UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) payloads such as radar, communications, electronic warfare, and electro-optical equipment.

The VPX1PH3UC310-SA features state-of-the-art switching power technology, providing high efficiency AC-DC conversion with .99 power factor correction in a conduction cooled module. Outputs are +12V and +3.3V_AUX in alignment with the SOSA technical standards. A range of advanced power converter features such as built-in EMI filtering, alignment keys for using multiple units in one chassis, I2C monitoring and IPMC redundancy, and wide operating temperature range make the unit ideal for battlefield C5ISR and embedded computing equipment requirements.

The unit has been designed in a SWaP (size, weight and power)-optimized 3U form factor with 5HP single-slot dimensions that are interoperable per VITA 48.2 standards specifications. Self-protection features include protections for over- and under- voltage/current/temperature and surge conditions.
