Aegis Power Systems, Inc., a power electronics manufacturer, has become a member of the SOSA™ Consortium. The Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) Consortium is a technology standards organization, gathering the expertise of government, industry, and academia to facilitate the development of interoperable sensors and systems.
As a member, Aegis Power Systems is helping to define the standards for military and commercial sensor systems, which may be used in embedded computing and C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) advanced defense systems.
A spokesperson at Aegis commented: “As a power electronics specialist, our aim is to learn the pain points of the existing architecture and aid in providing solutions to carry to payloads efficiently and effectively.
The open architecture system utilizes modularity to achieve affordability and integration speed, while leveraging standards (such as VITA) to provide aligned solutions to the US Department of Defense and other embedded computing customers. Applications for these systems may include unmanned technology for air and sea.
As SOSA™ continues to define these standards, Aegis Power Systems will adjust and implement the needs to our existing VPX power supply product line to support the long-term goals of a wide group of customers and end-users.”
