In this video, Tyto Robotics uses its 6×6 WindShaper to test how the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone performs in controlled shear wind conditions, where wind speed changes sharply over a short distance.
The test generates shear wind by operating one half of the WindShaper’s fans at a higher speed than the other, producing airflow similar to conditions a drone could encounter near buildings, terrain, or during certain weather conditions.
At a shear wind profile ranging from 0 to 10 m/s, the DJI Mini 4 Pro is pushed around but manages to maintain its position. When the range increases to 0–16 m/s, the drone is unable to react quickly enough and crashes into the WindShaper.
The demonstration highlights how controlled, repeatable wind testing can help identify drone performance limitations and assess flight stability under challenging airflow conditions.
