Vertiq has introduced firmware version v0.2.1 for its G2 production modules, providing a range of new functions, configurable options, and bug fixes.
The update is now available for customers to evaluate, although it will not be preloaded on newly manufactured modules until early 2026.
Modules Supported
The firmware applies to the production versions of Vertiq’s G2 modules. Supported models include:
- 40-06 370Kv, 770Kv (M34.1–M34.5, M41.1–M41.3)
- 40-14 400Kv (M35.1–M35.3)
- 60-08 150Kv, 300Kv, 660Kv (M47.1–M47.2, M40.2, M40.4, M48.0–M48.2)
- 81-08 G2 85Kv, 140Kv, 240Kv (M16.2–M16.3, M28.2–M28.3, M39.2–M39.3)
- 81-17 G2 110Kv (M42.0–M42.2)
Customers using beta versions of these modules will not be able to apply the update.
Overview of Changes
Compared to firmware v0.1.2, the new release delivers several enhancements and adjustments. Key additions include:
- Telemetry speed reporting options for timer-based protocols, supporting both RPM and KISS-compliant ERPM
- Expanded DroneCAN configuration parameters, including new stow, arming, and disarming controls
- Ability to disable the arming sound during transitions
- Option to prevent automatic disarming from DSHOT disarm commands
- Supply current limiting functionality for advanced users
- Additional stow behaviors, including low-power hold and stow into brake
- Automatic saving of DroneCAN bitrate values for more seamless tunneling
Several bug fixes have also been incorporated, addressing LED synchronization issues, DroneCAN bitrate switching errors, and DSHOT ESC Info message formatting.
Transition Timeline
Firmware v0.2.1 is available immediately for customer upgrades. To allow time for user feedback and production adjustments, it will not ship as the default on new G2 modules until January 6, 2026. Customers may request early adoption of the firmware on new orders or continued use of older versions by contacting Vertiq’s sales team.
Previous firmware versions remain accessible on module product pages for those preferring to delay upgrades.
Control Center Updates
Vertiq’s Control Center software has also been updated to version 1.10.0, providing interface support for the new firmware features.
Replacement of v0.2.0
A prior release, v0.2.0, was briefly available. Version v0.2.1 incorporates additional internal manufacturing support while retaining all updates from v0.2.0. Users who installed v0.2.0 are advised to update, with no expected impact on motor behavior.
Key Feature Details
- Telemetry Speed Options: Enables flight controllers such as PX4 and ArduPilot to correctly interpret ESC speed telemetry without additional configuration.
- Communication Timeout Behavior: Adds an option for modules to remain armed during temporary in-flight communication losses.
- DroneCAN Parameters: Expands control over throttle arming, disarming limits, stow settings, and related functions.
- Stow Behaviors: Introduces brake mode and low-power hold, the latter designed to reduce energy use when maintaining stow position.
- Supply Current Limiting: Allows advanced users to restrict current draw or regeneration, with the tradeoff of reduced motor response.
