Vertiq has released servo firmware version 0.1.1, introducing a suite of new features designed to enhance control flexibility and telemetry for a specific range of production modules.
The update is compatible with several G2 modules, including the 40-06 370Kv, 40-14 400Kv, 60-08 150Kv, 81-08 85Kv, and 81-17 110Kv, as well as the 81-08 G1 85Kv. This release focuses heavily on the integration of DroneCAN, a CAN-based protocol frequently utilized for drone motor communication. Through this update, servo modules now support the ArrayCommand message for both unitless and position control. Additionally, the firmware enables ActuatorStatus telemetry reporting, though it is noted that force measurement is not supported and will report as NAN.
Beyond basic control, the DroneCAN implementation includes support for dynamic node ID allocation, parameter setting, node rebooting, tunneling, and health monitoring. To support these expanded capabilities, Vertiq has also updated its Control Center to version 1.10.1, exposing the new parameters necessary for configuration.
The IQUART Flight Controller Interface (IFCI) has also received significant updates. The firmware introduces a unitless servo control type to IFCI, which allows for control based on battery voltage percentage, voltage, velocity, and angular displacement. A new linear displacement unitless control option is now available within the Servo Input Parser. This mode maps raw input values to target linear displacement using configured minimums, maximums, and meters-per-radian settings.
Hardware integration is further expanded with the introduction of direct LED control. Users can now interface with Vertiq’s LED add-on board using either the DroneCAN or IQUART protocols.
For users who are not yet ready to transition to the new firmware, Vertiq is maintaining access to previous versions on its website. This ensures that customers can continue using existing functionality while evaluating the benefits and potential effects of the v0.1.1 upgrade on their specific configurations.
