IP67-Sealed DMM Design Maintains Compact Dimensions

Embedded electronics used in tactical drones, field robotics, and naval sensors are increasingly operating outside protected racks and enclosures, where exposure to moisture and dust presents challenges for interconnect systems.

Sealing Without Additional Bulk

Moving to a sealed connector can involve larger housings, increased weight, or protective caps, potentially requiring engineers to redesign mechanical interfaces or change interconnect standards.

Nicomatic’s factory-modified DMM configuration provides IP67 protection against dust ingress and temporary immersion while retaining the dimensions and mounting points of the standard connector.

At the front-side panel interface, an O-ring provides sealing between the connector and the equipment enclosure. The rear cable or board interface uses full potting encapsulation. Resin sealing prevents infiltration through wires or contacts, including in cases of condensation or oil splashes.

Maintaining DMM Dimensions and Mounting Points

The sealed configuration addresses risks of contact corrosion and short circuits while maintaining the same dimensions and mounting points as standard DMM connectors.

Available on request, the IP67 version is intended for systems operating in demanding environments, including equipment exposed to rain, mud, or sea spray.

The sealed DMM requires particular attention regarding gasket selection and tightening torque.
