Ranger 2 is a comprehensive Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) system that delivers accurate underwater tracking, dynamic positioning reference, and subsea telemetry for AUVs, ROVs, towfish, and seafloor assets. Powered by Sonardyne’s 6G acoustic hardware and Wideband 2 digital signal architecture, it provides reliable positioning across operations from shallow coastal zones to full-ocean depths. The system integrates seamlessly with leading DP platforms, ensuring precise vessel control and repeatable acoustic referencing.

Built for flexibility, Ranger 2 can track up to 99 subsea targets simultaneously with system accuracy better than 0.04% of slant range and an operating range up to 11 km. Optional software packs extend functionality for inertial navigation (DP-INS) and advanced robotics, enabling operators to coordinate and command AUV swarms. The system supports bi-directional telemetry via the Sonardyne Messaging Service, facilitating control and data recovery from remote sensors and transponders. Available configurations support USV and temporary installations, making Ranger 2 a scalable solution for expanding subsea operations.
