The IT 6 is a compact, field-proven acoustic initiation transponder engineered to safely and remotely trigger mine neutralisers and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) devices from a secure distance. Designed for use by ROVs, clearance divers, and naval mine countermeasure teams, IT 6 delivers reliable, wireless initiation capability for underwater operations where safety, precision, and control are paramount. Operating in the Medium Frequency acoustic band (20–34 kHz), it enables non-electric initiation of shock tube-based systems such as ECS Viper without the need for hardwired connections or surface relay buoys.
Built on Sonardyne’s 6G hardware and Wideband 2 digital signal architecture, IT 6 ensures robust command transmission and compatibility with the Ranger 2 USBL family for tracking and location monitoring. Multiple safety layers, including a hydrostatic arming switch, configurable timeouts, and independent firing circuits, protect against accidental activation. The IP67-rated Deck Topside controller with touchscreen interface and manual arm/fire controls allows operation from small craft in all weather conditions. Compact, lightweight, and rated to 300 meters, IT 6 supports high and low order detonation modes, improving the safety and efficiency of UXO clearance, MCM, and subsea EOD missions.
