Our mission is to create zero-carbon hybrid propulsion technologies that enhance the capabilities of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) beyond those of purely electric systems, opening up a new generation of applications such as UAM (urban air mobility) and heavy-lift cargo drones.

Our Core Technology

Through pioneering research, we have developed extensive expertise in micro gas turbines (MGT) and related advanced turbomachinery. Our core technology enables compact and lightweight propulsion solutions with high power-to-weight ratios and reduced carbon footprints.

Power Generation SolutionsFeaturing direct-drive mechanisms and providing voltage outputs of 450 to 800V, these systems can be cooled entirely by air, and utilize oil-free bearings that further contribute towards greener aviation, reduce friction, and simplify maintenance requirements. They can operate on multiple fuel types, including diesel, bio-fuels (e.g. sustainable aviation fuel), avgas, and hydrogen (currently under development).

NEX Power Aviation GenSetCurrent battery technologies used in all-electric UAV powertrains suffer from poor power-to-weight ratios, putting a practical limit on the range and flight time of the aircraft. Our aviation gensets are designed to be integrated seamlessly into hybrid propulsion systems, complementing the capabilities of the battery and providing significant fuel savings. This innovative and ultra-efficient technology allows small UAS to fly further and longer, and supports the transition toward greener and more sustainable unmanned aviation.

Our range extenders allow hybrid-electric drones to fly further and carry heavier payloads than battery-only aircraft, making them ideal for last-mile delivery, long-range logistics, and supply of critical goods to remote and rural areas or disaster zones.
