Plettenberg, a leading provider of starter-generator and alternator systems for combustion engines used in mission-critical applications, has launched its new ORBIT SG Series.
The ORBIT SG Series is a new starter-generator platform engineered for ultra-scalability, maximum cost-effectiveness, exceptional power-to-weight performance, and outstanding ruggedness for operation in harsh environments.
Designed for uncrewed systems, aerospace, racing, and other demanding applications, the series includes ORBIT SG1, ORBIT SG3, and ORBIT SG10 models that are part of Plettenberg’s family of ultra-rugged outrunner BLDC starter-generators and alternators.
The series is built around Plettenberg’s new design philosophy, which includes ruggedized design for reliability in mission-critical environments, ultra-lightweight construction, scalable platform architecture, and lifecycle support including long-term availability of spare parts. It also features a robust and resilient supply chain, with DFARS- and NDAA-compliant options available.
Plettenberg’s generator and alternator systems are compatible with boxer, inline, and single-cylinder engines ranging from 20 cc to 1,500 cc displacement. The covered electrical power range extends from 500 W to 30 kW.
To support different installation requirements, the systems are available in multiple integration levels. External Alternator Systems are offered for standalone installation, Attachment Kits support direct installation on existing combustion engines, and Frameless Integration Kits enable integration into engine housings.
The COTS line-up currently spans SG1, SG3, and SG10 models, supporting engines from 20 to 750 cc. Across the listed models, rated power ranges from 250 W to 10,000 W, with operation across a 2,000 to 8,000 RPM range.
All products are developed, tested, and manufactured at Plettenberg’s headquarters in Germany in accordance with EN9100:2018 quality standards.
