Alva Industries has launched GearTorq, a new series of frameless motors developed specifically to optimize geared applications and actuator systems.
The new motor series is built on the company’s proprietary FiberPrinting manufacturing technology. Compared to the existing SlimTorq series, which is optimized for applications requiring a compact axial footprint, the GearTorq series features a longer design configuration. This form factor allows engineers to leverage available length to maximize performance, integration, and power density within existing geared actuation designs.
By combining a compact outer form factor with a large inner diameter, the design enables gear sets to be mounted directly within the center of the motor. This contrasts with conventional methods where gear sets are mounted strictly in series, helping engineers overcome packaging constraints while maintaining high performance. The motors deliver key performance characteristics required by actuator designers, including high torque density, high peak torque capabilities, and an absence of torque saturation.
The initial product rollout includes three distinct sizes based on outer diameter: 39 mm, 64 mm, and 88 mm. To support diverse application requirements, the series is available with multiple winding options and offers further customization possibilities. Engineers and system designers can evaluate these configurations and select appropriate solutions for specific motion system designs through the company’s online product selector.
