Rotron Aerospace, working with Mountain Horse Solutions, a Global Ordnance Company, has secured Blue UAS clearance for the Talon DT-300.
The addition reflects the DT-300’s compliance with the U.S. Department of Defense’s highest cybersecurity, supply chain, and operational performance requirements.
The Talon DT-300 is a fully electric, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) payload delivery system designed for high performance within its class. With a 70 km range and the ability to carry a 30 kg payload, more than double the lift capacity of comparable VTOL platforms, the DT-300 enables missions that were previously out of reach for electric heavy-lift UAVs.
Built on Rotron’s twin-rotor architecture, the system combines quiet, efficient propulsion with a design that is rapidly deployable, reusable, and cost-effective, supporting tactical effectiveness and reducing operational overhead.
Powered by Advanced Integrations
Rotron Aerospace and Mountain Horse have equipped the DT-300 with four advanced subsystem integrations to expand capability and mission adaptability:
- Silvus SC4200EP Radio – resilient tactical communications.
- FIRST RF FRF 53733 – high-performance RF antenna system.
- Hood Tech Vision Alticam AC11-5 – ISR imaging payload.
- Multi-use Payload Rig – modular logistics and payload deployment.
These integrations make the DT-300 a multi-role asset suitable for ISR, resupply, critical infrastructure protection, and contested environment operations.
Why Blue UAS Clearance Matters
The Blue UAS Program, led by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), identifies unmanned systems that have passed rigorous DoD vetting for:
- NDAA compliance – all components sourced from trusted supply chains.
- Cybersecurity integrity – safeguarding sensitive mission data.
- Streamlined procurement – approved systems can be acquired directly by U.S. government agencies without lengthy waiver processes.
For agencies and operators, this means the DT-300 is now a mission-ready, government-approved solution for demanding unmanned airborne operations.
Alex Head, Rotron Aerospace CEO, commented, “For Rotron Aerospace, this recognition not only reinforces the DT-300’s technical advantages, but also ensures our technology is fully aligned with U.S. Department of Defense standards – giving operators the confidence to deploy with trust and impact.”
William Allen, President at Mountain Horse Technology Solutions, said, “We are thrilled that the Talon DT-300 has been accepted onto the Blue UAS Cleared List. This milestone is the culmination of years of innovation and partnership, and it validates our commitment with Rotron Aerospace to delivering secure, mission-ready UAV solutions.”
