Skyway, a California-based innovator in vertiport infrastructure, has joined forces with MatrixSpace, a company focused on AI-driven sensing technology, to enhance airspace intelligence.

AI Powered Radar Enhancing Air Traffic Management & UAS Detection

This collaboration will drive the next generation of unmanned aircraft detection and air traffic management, setting new benchmarks for safety, efficiency, and scalability in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

Skyway specializes in vertiport airfield operations, supporting eVTOL manufacturers, commercial developers, and airline operators. By integrating MatrixSpace Radar’s AI-powered sensing solutions, Skyway will enhance real-time situational awareness across its expanding network. MatrixSpace’s advanced radar technology precisely detects and classifies airborne and ground-based objects, equipping Skyway’s command center with rapid response capabilities to manage dynamic airspace conditions.

Clifford Cruz, CEO at Skyway, said, “Our partnership with MatrixSpace is a game-changer for vertiport operations, bringing an advanced level of detection no one else could provide.

“Integrating their intelligent radar technology with our vertiport infrastructure will ensure safer, more reliable, and scalable operations for AAM, addressing critical needs in the aerospace and urban air mobility industries.”

As urban air mobility accelerates, sophisticated air traffic management becomes essential. MatrixSpace’s radar technology—featuring object tracking, telemetry data capture, and mesh networking—will enable Skyway to optimize vertiport operations with unprecedented accuracy. This innovation is key to supporting Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) missions, facilitating seamless drone and eVTOL operations for commercial, defense, and emergency response applications.

Lori DeMatteis, Chief Revenue Officer at MatrixSpace, added, “This partnership is pivotal for accelerating innovations in aerospace navigation and ensuring seamless integration across the AAM ecosystem. MatrixSpace’s collaboration with Skyway will bring next-generation sensing technology to vertiport operations.

“Our solutions are designed to provide unparalleled situational awareness, ease and flexibility and together, we’re creating a foundation for the safe and scalable future of air mobility.”

By merging Skyway’s expertise in vertiport infrastructure with MatrixSpace’s intelligent radar systems, this partnership tackles critical challenges in airspace coordination. Enhanced drone detection will mitigate potential threats, real-time traffic monitoring will minimize collision risks, and regulatory compliance will be streamlined. With seamless integration between vertiports and airborne assets, this collaboration is set to redefine aerospace innovation, paving the way for the future of autonomous aviation.
