Al Seer USV with L3Harris technology

L3Harris Technologies, in conjunction with partner Al Seer Marine, has demonstrated the maritime autonomous capabilities of a new USV (unmanned surface vessel) platform.

The live demonstration was performed during the 2021 International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2021) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Al Seer Marine USV was equipped with L3Harris’ ASView advanced autonomous control system, a Falcon-III RF-7800W high-capacity line-of-sight radio with advanced SMART Antenna, and a WESCAM MX-10MS maritime electro-optical/infrared imaging system. Featuring COLREG collision avoidance and a top speed of over 40 knots, the platform can be programmed for fully autonomous operation or can be remotely piloted from an onshore or ship-based ground control station. It is ideal for a variety of different maritime missions, including ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance), coastal patrol and interdiction missions.

L3Harris has delivered more than 125 ASVs (autonomous surface vessels) and optionally manned vehicles to defense and commercial customers throughout the world. The company has expertise in platform concept design, build and commissioning, operation and maintenance. Its autonomous surface vehicles are available in a wide variety of configurations, serving a variety of military, security, offshore energy and scientific missions.

Al Seer Marine’s core capabilities are in designing, manufacturing, integrating, training, and maintaining USV platforms, providing a full through-life support package as a complete capability provider. The company incorporates the latest in artificial intelligence into USVs, producing new and intuitive ideas for maritime safety and security.
