Orbital UAV engine developmentOrbital UAV has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the design, development and initial low-rate production of UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) multi-fuel engines for one of the largest defense companies in Singapore.

The project will be split into three phases:

Phase 1: the development, integration and supply of an initial prototype multi-fuel UAV engine
Phase 2: supply of a small number of additional prototype engines for further evaluation requirements by the customer
Phase 3: a low-rate production run to be authorised by the customer upon successful completion and acceptance of the first two phases

An initial contract has already been signed to commence Phase 1, which is expected to be completed within 18 months. The next two phases are dependent on the successful completion and acceptance by the customer of the first prototype engine identified in Phase 1.

Todd Alder, CEO and Managing Director of Orbital UAV, commented: “The MoU and initial contract provide us with the opportunity to further demonstrate our industry-leading know-how and technical expertise in the UAV market with a new international customer.”
