Aurora Flight Sciences demonstrated its AI-enabled control technology using Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs), showing its ability to adapt in real time and maintain safe vehicle control during unforeseen hazards such as component failures and environmental conditions.
In tests conducted with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Aerospace Controls Laboratory and MIT Marine Autonomy Laboratory as part of DARPA’s Learning Introspective Control (LINC) program, AI-assisted control reduced recovery time by 34%, while AI-guided control reduced recovery time by 61% compared to manual control. Time spent in the safe operating zone increased from 63% under manual control to 82% with AI-assisted control and 94% with AI-guided control.
