The Volz Servos DA 30 actuator builds on a proven design and is now available in both standard and high-torque versions, the latter providing a significantly increased continuous torque output. It is engineered to deliver long service life and dependable operation through the use of a brushless DC motor and contactless, wear-free position sensor. This combination prevents electromagnetic emissions caused by brush sparking and ensures maximum reliability in demanding UAV and engine control applications.
The housing is machined from saltwater-resistant aluminum, treated with a HART coating, and sealed to IP67 standards for protection against water and dust. It features integrated mounting brackets for both horizontal and vertical installation and includes an embedded Sub-D connector, with MIL-spec circular or cable gland options available on request. The actuator uses an eight-stage, ball-bearing-supported steel gear train with an ANSI multi-tooth drive shaft. The DA 30 supports standard PWM input via either a galvanically isolated differential (opto-coupled) or single-ended CMOS interface, both of which allow servo programming. RS-485 communication is also supported, providing position feedback and digital diagnostic data such as voltage, current, temperature, and optionally humidity levels inside the actuator housing.
