The Volz Servos DA 26-D actuator is a fully redundant design developed for applications requiring the highest levels of reliability. Its two-channel configuration allows continuous operation even if one channel fails, ensuring sustained functionality in critical control systems. All primary subsystems, including electric motors, control and communication electronics, and power supply circuits, are implemented redundantly. The position sensing system uses a three-channel design that employs a two-out-of-three voting principle to enhance positional accuracy and fault tolerance.
Integrated monitoring functions measure supply voltage, current consumption, and internal temperature. Each channel’s microcontroller continuously diagnoses the actuator’s operational health, with system status and diagnostic data accessible through the redundant RS-485 communication interface. This architecture provides a robust foundation for use in safety-critical uncrewed and aerospace platforms where reliability and fault resilience are essential.
