The Volz Servos DA 26 actuator is designed to provide long service life and high reliability through its brushless DC motor and contactless position sensing system. These features eliminate mechanical wear and reduce electromagnetic interference from brush sparking, ensuring consistent operation in demanding UAV environments.
The saltwater-resistant aluminum housing is HART-coated for corrosion protection, meets IP67 standards for dust and water resistance, and integrates a Sub-D connector. Brackets built into the housing allow both horizontal and vertical installation, and the actuator’s six-stage, ball-bearing-supported steel gear train provides smooth and durable torque transmission.
The DA 26 series supports multiple electrical interfaces. Standard configurations include a PWM input available as either a galvanically isolated differential interface (opto-coupled) or a single-ended CMOS-level interface that also enables servo programming. An RS-485 serial interface version communicates via a CRC-secured protocol, providing both position data and diagnostic information such as voltage level, current draw, and internal temperature.
Optional humidity sensing is also available. DA 26 actuators have demonstrated more than 3 million operational cycles and have undergone qualification testing in accordance with MIL-STD-810F (vibration) and 810G (shock and acceleration).
