The Slocum Sentinel Glider from Teledyne Webb Research is an ultra-long-endurance autonomous underwater vehicle developed for persistent ocean monitoring over missions measured in years rather than months. Its 170 L vehicle volume and 25.2 kWh energy capacity provide additional room for batteries, instrumentation, and mission hardware, with multiple external integration locations available. Up to eight sensors can operate simultaneously, supporting complex data-gathering missions while reducing the need to ration onboard energy.
Sentinel is designed for operation across wider geographic areas, stronger currents, and environments with significant density variation. The platform can also undertake boat-free transit toward remote operating zones, reducing dependence on support vessels during deployment. Mission piloting, communications, and data visualization are available through Slocum Fleet Mission Control, while sensor, hardware, and software options developed for the Slocum G3 can also be used with Sentinel.
