STELION Navigation (STELION-SNS) combines heading, geolocation and orientation measurements in a single optical sensor designed for daytime and nighttime operation. It provides complementary information to improve the performance of existing navigation systems, adding celestial navigation inputs for autonomous platforms operating in challenging and contested environments.
The sensor delivers 0.1° heading accuracy, with geolocation accuracy of 4–5 km during the day and 1–2 km at night. Its CMOS detector provides a field of view of 170° for daytime operation and 40° at night, enabling both heading and position information to be obtained from celestial observations.
With an easy-to-integrate plug-and-play architecture, compact footprint and weight of less than 170 g, STELION-SNS is highly suited to autonomous vehicle navigation. Power consumption is no more than 3 W, with 5 VDC or 12 VDC supply options available on request. RS-422 communications are provided, with NMEA specified for production units.
