The SRV-8 MDV is a specialized ROV designed to support both commercial and naval EOD teams. Featuring state-of-the-art customized sonar tracking and imaging technology, the underwater robotic vehicle provides a convenient and easy-to-use capability for the location and elimination of underwater mine threats.
After detecting explosive devices via the powerful imaging sonar, the SRV-8 MDV can be used to secure a charge disruptor to the target, and then to activate the charge from a distance via a connected shock tube. This remote disposal method ensures the safety of divers as well as equipment, while enhancing efficiency.
The vehicle is also capable of tracking underwater sonic targets such as emergency beacons and sonar transponders, and can perform covert missions by following specialized transponders, ensuring that operational secrecy is maintained. The system features a commercial-grade AHRS/IMU, Doppler Velocity Logs (DVLs), and a Seatrac USBL for high-accuracy underwater navigation.
