Oceanbotics is a leading manufacturer of state-of-the-art underwater ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) that are as easy to pilot underwater as aerial drones, providing a smooth, intuitive experience for marine professionals.
Our deep sea ROV robot solutions allow you to complete ROV missions faster, easier and more reliably than ever before, and are ideally suited to a wide range of industries and applications, including aquaculture, military and security, scientific research, and underwater survey.
SRV-8 Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle
ROV robot for underwater inspections, surveys and research
The SRV-8 is a highly manoeuvrable deep sea ROV powered by a unique 8-thruster DVC (dynamic vector control) system that provides full 360° movement along 6 axes. The one-person portable system can be deployed in under three minutes, and is controlled with a standard Xbox controller for easy, intuitive operation in a variety of current conditions and underwater environments.
With up to 6 hours of mission time on a single set of batteries and a depth rating of 305 meters (1000 ft), the versatile SRV-8 is ideal for a wide variety of missions, from infrastructure inspection to search and rescue.
Modular frame rails allow the utility to be enhanced with additional accessories such as grabber and ROV manipulator arms and multibeam sonars.
Quick interconnects provide easy linking of the ROV and tether to the rugged topside control box, which features an 8.4” sunlight readable monitor. The tether reel supports lengths up to 400m (1,312 ft) and the tether’s 4.5mm diameter reduces the effect of drag, weight and current, making manoeuvres and station-keeping easier.
With a uniquely-designed strain relief connection and a pull strength of over 300lbs, the tether can be used for launch and recovery of the SRV-8 from high platforms, or to aid in the recovery of large or heavy objects from the sea floor.
The SRV-8 features two 1,500 lumen LED lights that illuminate 135° in front of the ROV, providing maximum visibility for the operator. The onboard camera delivers both a clear, real-time analogue feed for the operator, and an HD 1080p digital feed for viewing on-site or recording for later analysis.
Enhanced capabilities for deeper and more complex missions
A larger, more powerful version of the SRV-8 is also available for more demanding and deeper-water missions. Providing 2.5 times the thrust for operation in stronger currents, the SRV-8X Optimus can operate at depths of 500 metres, and also features an enhanced payload capacity.
The SRV-8X Optimus provides almost twice the connectivity of the regular SRV-8, allowing more sensors and robotic arms to be integrated. The ROV carries four Blueprint Subsea lights, delivering a total of 6000 lumens.
A 250m tether is provided as standard, and a fiber optic option is available for operating at depths of greater than 300m.
The SRV-8 MDV (mine disposal vehicle) is a specialized ROV designed to support both commercial and naval EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) teams.
Featuring unique sonar tracking and imaging technology, the underwater robotic vehicle provides a quick and easy method of locating and disposing of underwater mine threats.
After detecting explosive devices via the cutting-edge imaging sonar, the SRV-8 MDV can be used to secure a charge disruptor to the target, and then to activate the charge from a distance via a connected shock tube. This remote disposal method ensures the safety of divers as well as equipment, while enhancing operational efficiency.
The vehicle is also capable of tracking underwater sonic targets such as emergency beacons and sonar transponders, and can perform covert navigation by following specialized transponders, ensuring that operational secrecy is maintained.
Intuitive ROV mission planning, recording and playback
SubNAV™ provides comprehensive mission recording, playback and analysis for our deep sea ROVs. Logged position and vehicle dynamics data can be synchronised to the HD video playback for detailed post-mission review, with a scrubbing function that allows users to quickly highlight areas of importance.
SubNAV™ also features intuitive ROV mission planning and waypoint creation, with the ability to display real-time geo-referenced positional information alongside HD streaming video. Operators can log events of importance and targets of interest either during a mission or during post-mission playback.
Other features of the SubNAV™ ROV software include:
Real-time monitoring of attitude (pitch, yaw, roll), camera tilt angle, thruster input, GPS signal strength and light intensity
The SRV-8 provides a quick, efficient solution for undertaking routine tasks that are essential to avoid costly repairs and reduce economic losses, such as net and mooring inspection, invasive species identification, stock health monitoring, and mort retrieval.
The SRV-8 is an indispensable asset for the maintenance of structures such as bridges, dams and pipelines, recording and cataloguing current states and observing where repairs may be needed before conditions worsen.
Law Enforcement, Security & Defense
Our rapidly-deployable and highly agile ROV can provide vital situational awareness for port security, search and rescue and EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) operations, helping to reduce the Time Exposed to Danger (TED) for divers or even eliminating the need for human operator presence entirely.
Underwater Survey ROV
With its ability to field a variety of deep water sensors and optional high-precision navigation systems, the flexible SRV-8 can be used for a wide range of survey and data collection missions, including reef site mapping, shipwreck exploration, non-invasive shoal verification and ground truthing.
Science & Research
The SRV-8 is an ideal scientific research platform, and can be equipped with a wide variety of precision underwater instrumentation for ecological studies, geological and environmental survey, water sampling and more.
