Gaps M5 is a medium-frequency Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) positioning system from Exail designed for accurate subsea tracking, positioning, and communication in underwater operations ranging from ultra-shallow to medium-depth environments. Combining a USBL system with an integrated heading and attitude sensor based on Exail Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology, the compact all-in-one solution supports reliable positioning and tracking of subsea assets in demanding marine applications. The system is suited for survey operations, ROV tracking, tow fish tracking, AUV tracking and communication, diver tracking, structure deployment, and dynamic positioning workflows.
Designed for streamlined deployment and operational flexibility, Gaps M5 features simultaneous beacon tracking and acoustic communication capabilities together with compatibility for third-party transponders and dynamic positioning systems. The pre-calibrated architecture enables rapid setup while supporting high-precision horizontal tracking over wide coverage areas. Available in both export-free and extended-range configurations, the system provides dependable subsea positioning performance while reducing integration complexity for offshore and underwater operations.
