ROV Locator USBLs

Cerulean Sonar’s ROV Locator (ROVL) family provides a range of cost-effective USBL positioning capabilities for UUVs (unmanned underwater vehicles) at depths of down to 300 meters. Three different variants are available:

  • Mk II – utilizes separate GNSS devices on topside receiver and ROV transmitter to synchronize the clocks on each unit
  • Mk III – uses duplex acoustic communication with a transceiver on the topside and a transponder on the ROV, requiring no clock synchronization
  • Mk V – utilizes a common Ethernet connection with a private protocol similar to an NTP server for accurate and drift-free synchronization that is independent of the speed of sound and does not rely on GNSS
