RuggOn‘s SVA 500 rugged touch VoIP terminal has been developed to provide reliable, flexible voice communications for mission-critical applications across defence, satellite communications, maritime and remote field environments.
Combining IP voice communication, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and an Android operating system, the SVA 500 provides a scalable communications platform that can be configured for specific operational requirements. The terminal is powered by an i.MX8M Nano quad-core processor and Android 11, with Board Support Package (BSP) software integration enabling the deployment of mission-specific applications and customized software.
The SVA 500 features a 5-inch touchscreen with a 720 × 1280 resolution and 500-nit brightness, providing visibility in challenging outdoor conditions, including direct sunlight. For voice communications, the system incorporates a dedicated push-to-talk (PTT) button, earpiece and hands-free speaker capable of delivering 85 dB SPL at 50 cm.
Designed to simplify deployment in operational environments, the SVA 500 supports IEEE 802.3at PoE, combining power and data transmission through a 10/100/1000 RJ45 LAN connection. A supplied 6-foot coiled Ethernet cable incorporates tensile strain relief at the handset end, providing flexibility when integrating the terminal into existing communications infrastructure.
Environmental resilience is a key feature of the SVA 500, which carries an IP65 rating and has been tested against MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-810H requirements. The terminal has also undergone operational testing at altitudes of up to 40,000 feet, supporting deployment in demanding environments where equipment must withstand challenging operating conditions.
With 32GB of eMMC storage and an Android-based software architecture, the SVA 500 can support a range of dedicated applications alongside its core voice communication functions. Its ruggedized design and network connectivity make it suitable for applications including satellite communications, unmanned ground control stations (GCS), maritime operations, transportation infrastructure and remote field deployments.
By combining rugged hardware, high-speed network connectivity, PoE power and flexible software integration, the SVA 500 provides a configurable communications terminal for users requiring dependable voice and data connectivity across mission-critical operations.
