Red Cat Holdings has launched Red Cat Aerial, a newly unified division bringing together the personnel, engineering capabilities, and technology previously represented by Teal Drones and FlightWave Aerospace under a single public-facing identity.
The consolidation is intended to provide defense customers with a single point of engagement for Red Cat’s aerial systems while establishing a shared engineering foundation to support faster platform development as mission requirements evolve. The unified portfolio includes Black Widow™, FANG™, Edge 130, and Hellcat™, alongside the newly introduced TRICHON™ platform.
Red Cat Aerial unveiled TRICHON at AUSA 2026, where the new division and its wider portfolio were also showcased. The hand-launched Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) tricopter is designed for long-endurance Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
TRICHON has been developed in response to growing operational demand for small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) that can be fielded in quantities sufficient to support training, deployment, attrition, and replacement, rather than relying on limited numbers of high-performance aircraft.
The tricopter combines long-endurance VTOL ISR capabilities with an established electronics core, building on technology already used by U.S. and allied operators. According to Red Cat, this approach is intended to provide a lower cost of entry for military units seeking to deploy capable ISR systems in meaningful numbers.
TRICHON represents the beginning of the division’s next phase of development. The division plans to continue expanding its portfolio with additional platforms and technologies designed to address evolving mission requirements across the modern battlefield.
Mitch McDonald, CEO of Red Cat Aerial, commented, “Red Cat Aerial brings together deep engineering experience, proven technology and a shared focus on solving the operational challenges facing today’s warfighters. As one organization, we can build on the strengths across our portfolio and accelerate the development of purpose-built systems for evolving mission requirements. TRICHON is the first example of that approach, combining long-endurance ISR with a proven technology foundation in a platform designed to be fielded in meaningful numbers.”
