Autonomous systems software developer Gambit has named former Elbit Systems of America president and CEO Raanan Horowitz as a senior advisor.
Horowitz joins Gambit’s advisory board with nearly four decades of leadership experience in aerospace and defense, having spent roughly 35 years with Elbit Systems. During his 16-year tenure leading Elbit Systems of America, he guided the business through strategic acquisitions and organic growth, scaling annual revenue from approximately $300 million to more than $1.6 billion while expanding its footprint across the U.S. defense market.
Gambit develops artificial intelligence-driven, platform-agnostic software engineered to deliver adaptive intelligence and coordinate autonomous operations across air, land, and maritime environments. Designed around operator intent, the software allows defense personnel to direct heterogeneous teams of autonomous systems without dependency on a specific hardware platform, vendor, or operational domain.
“Raanan brings decades of experience scaling defense technology around the needs of the warfighter,” said Josh Giegel, CEO of Gambit. “He understands what it takes to move advanced technology from promising capability to trusted, fielded systems at scale. As Gambit continues to grow across the Department of War, his experience navigating that transition will be invaluable.”
The advisory appointment comes as Gambit seeks to expand the fielding of its multi-domain autonomy software across the broader U.S. defense enterprise.
“It’s a privilege to support Josh and the Gambit team as they apply their technology to enable the large-scale deployment of autonomous warfighting capabilities across all domains,” said Raanan. “Their approach to human-machine integration and the orchestration of advanced machine learning has the potential to materially improve how autonomous systems are deployed and employed in complex operational environments.”
In addition to his role at Gambit, Horowitz serves on the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Defense Analyses, the Board of Directors of Parry Labs LLC, and chairs the Board of Directors of the Beaufort Group. His previous industry and public-service background includes appointments on the U.S. Army Science Board and the Board of BigBear.ai.
Horowitz holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University, along with an MBA from Grand Valley State University.
