Volatus Aerospace Inc. has been selected as a qualified supplier under the Government of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative (DDI) Marketplace.
Following a competitive federal review process, the qualification establishes the Canadian-headquartered company within a pre-qualified supplier pool. This status creates a formal pathway for the business to compete for upcoming opportunities involving uncrewed & autonomous systems, aimed at supporting both the Canadian Armed Forces & the Canadian Coast Guard.
The federal government launched the Defence Drone Initiative in July 2026 to accelerate the development, testing, adaptation, & production of uncrewed & autonomous systems while expanding domestic industrial capacity. For Volatus, joining the marketplace opens another avenue to unify its existing capabilities in advanced aviation, autonomous systems, & operational delivery.

Volatus has been expanding its foundational infrastructure to cover the development, integration, production, & operation of Canadian uncrewed systems. These activities are anchored by the company’s Innovation & Manufacturing Hub in Mirabel, Quebec, alongside its Operations Control Centre in Vaughan, Ontario.
Selection for the DDI Marketplace does not constitute a direct contract award or guarantee future company revenue. Instead, it places the organization in position to bid on relevant future requirements issued through the federal program. The company intends to pursue aligned opportunities as Canada advances sovereign defence production, technology, & operational readiness, viewing the milestone as a key element in establishing end-to-end Canadian uncrewed capabilities.
