Smith Myers Communications Ltd. has unveiled ARTEMIS AI, a new artificial intelligence capability for the ARTEMIS product family designed to provide embedded decision support in mission-critical operational environments.
ARTEMIS AI will operate entirely within a closed onboard system, using a Large Language Model that will not require internet access, cloud services or third-party connections. According to Smith Myers, this architecture is intended to maintain data sovereignty, operational security and reliability in disconnected or contested environments.
Andrew Munro, Managing Director of Smith Myers, commented, “ARTEMIS AI represents the next evolution of operational capability. By embedding intelligent decision support directly into the ARTEMIS platform, we are enabling operators to achieve more with less effort, while maintaining complete control of the system at all times.”
The capability will function as an operational assistant, supporting natural language interaction, automated system optimisation, real-time mission support, health monitoring, mission planning assistance and post-mission analysis.
Operators will be able to configure complex missions through conversational commands, with ARTEMIS AI automatically optimising system parameters according to mission requirements, historical performance and environmental conditions.
During operations, the system will be able to identify anomalies, highlight potential threats or opportunities, recommend actions and provide safeguards against ineffective decisions. It will also monitor hardware and software performance, address certain faults automatically and provide troubleshooting guidance when intervention is needed.
After a mission, ARTEMIS AI will generate reports, charts, briefings and after-action reviews, helping organisations extract operational insights and support continuous improvement.

The system is designed to work alongside operators, providing actionable insights and intelligent assistance while ensuring human decision-makers remain firmly in control.”
