Sentronics Limited has announced the full release of its RealFlow D-Series range of configurable ultrasonic fuel flow sensors designed specifically for uncrewed aerial vehicle platforms.
The introduction of the expanded product line follows the debut of the d450 and d600 models at DSEI 2025. This next-generation platform is engineered to maintain measurement accuracy in real-world dynamic flight environments where vibration, acceleration, and rapidly changing flow conditions typically challenge sensing performance. The D-Series offers a customizable range covering flow rates from 20 ml/min to 20 l/min, allowing manufacturers and system integrators to select a solution tailored to specific engine sizes and mission profiles.
To accommodate size- and weight-constrained platforms, the sensors feature a compact, lightweight form factor that fits within the palm of a hand. The architecture is designed to be easily adapted to various platform designs, fuel system layouts, and mission requirements for both defense and commercial applications.
Based on a patented measurement algorithm, the D-Series contains no moving parts and provides zero flow impedance and pressure drop. The sensors achieve measurement accuracies better than ±0.75% of reading across a wide range of flow rates, fluid temperatures, and fuel compositions. This high-fidelity data is intended for use in endurance modeling, flight path optimisation, and system validation.
A key feature of the D-Series is its multi-fuel compatibility, which allows for operation across gasoline, kerosene, diesel, Jet-A1, and JP fuels without the need for recalibration or fuel-specific components. This capability ensures consistent performance for platforms operating in diverse climatic and logistical conditions.
The D-Series is engineered to meet relevant military environmental and EMC standards while maintaining a Low-SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) footprint. This makes the technology suitable for a variety of aircraft, ranging from compact tactical units to larger systems focused on high endurance or heavy payloads.
Neville Meech, Sentronics Managing Director, said, “The RealFlow D-Series represents the culmination of over a decade of continuous refinement of Sentronics’ patented ultrasonic technology, as proven in the extreme NVH environment of topline international motorsport. We have applied our considerable fuel system measurement experience to deliver a new generation of ultra-accurate, highly robust ultrasonic fuel flow meters optimized for UAV applications.”
