1. Aurora Demonstrates AI-Enabled Control Systems for Enhanced Maritime Safety

Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing company, has successfully demonstrated its Fast Adaptation and Learning for Control Online (FALCON) technology, an AI-enabled control system designed to maintain safe maritime operations under challenging environmental conditions and system failures.

Developed under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Learning Introspective Control (LINC) program, FALCON was created in collaboration with the MIT Aerospace Controls Laboratory and the MIT Marine Autonomy Laboratory.

2. Counter-UAS Middle East & Africa Conference Convenes Amid Rising Aerial Smuggling Threats

The second edition of the Counter UAS Technology Middle East & Africa conference is set to convene in Jordan, bringing together regional and global counter-drone leaders to address the increasing need for sophisticated technologies and strategies.

The news of this pivotal event comes as Jordan’s armed forces have intercepted and shot down a series of remotely guided balloons carrying narcotics in the east of the country, demonstrating a trend of criminal networks turning to improvised aerial delivery methods to evade border controls in the Middle East. Such incidents highlight the need to continue expanding and developing the discussion around the evolution of these threats.

3. Teledyne Delivers Four GAVIA AUVs to Sweden & Modernizes Subsea Fleet

Teledyne Marine has completed the delivery of the first four GAVIA Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration.

This initial delivery is part of a multi-year framework agreement between Teledyne Marine and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). The GAVIA AUVs are intended to support fleet modernization initiatives for the Swedish Armed Forces, specifically aimed at enhancing underwater surveillance capabilities and improving operational efficiency.

5. Evolito Enters Collaboration to Develop Electric Taxi Motors

Evolito is collaborating with Airbus on a UK government-funded program to develop an on-aircraft electric wheel taxi system designed to reduce operating costs and environmental impact.

The initiative, supported by the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) and Innovate UK, focuses on Project SONATA: System Optimisation of Non-propulsive energy in Aircraft Taxi technologies and Architectures. This system allows aircraft to taxi independently while main engines remain switched off, targeting a 47% reduction in taxi emissions alongside significant decreases in noise and improvements to local air quality.
