Everdrone, a Swedish medical drone specialist, and the Ambulance Services Administration in Region Stockholm have signed an agreement to implement a rapid-response drone system.

The partnership focuses on the implementation and operation of Everdrone’s autonomous emergency response drone system. This will enable the rapid delivery of defibrillators to suspected cardiac arrest incidents, while also providing early situational awareness at accident scenes and other acute medical events.

Mats Sällström, CEO of Everdrone, commented, “The collaboration demonstrates a growing understanding that autonomous drone systems can strengthen society’s preparedness and deliver assistance very quickly in acute and life-threatening situations.

“We have already conducted an analysis of previous acute incidents as well as airspace availability to determine the geographical placement of the drone system. The agreement is another important step in our work to make fast and safe drone-based emergency responses available.”

Sällström added, “We can now contribute to faster delivery of life-saving equipment and improved decision support in the Stockholm region. It is encouraging that another Swedish region is now taking the step to introduce drone technology as a complement to emergency medical services.”

This marks Everdrone’s second regional partnership in Sweden, following its project with the Västra Götaland Region, which has been in operational use for several years.

This new agreement runs until spring 2027. The system will be implemented and tested before transitioning to operational deployment during 2026.
