Inertial Navigation Systems (INS)
Discover cutting-edge solutions from 9 leading global suppliers
MicroStrain by HBK has revealed that its PX4 drivers are now officially part of the main PX4 branch, with support expanded to include the 3DM-CV7-INS and 3DM-CV7-GNSS/INS sensors.
With this integration, all CV7 Series sensors, including the previously supported 3DM-CV7-AR and 3DM-CV7-AHRS, are now fully compatible with PX4. Developers and system integrators using PX4 can now seamlessly incorporate any CV7 Series sensor into unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), robotics platforms, and autonomous systems.
The CV7 Series delivers tactical-grade inertial sensing with high-speed data output, robust filtering, and compact form factors, all critical for precision navigation and control.
- 3DM-CV7-INS: Combines inertial sensing with external GNSS inputs for full navigation solutions.
- 3DM-CV7-GNSS/INS: Provides tightly coupled GNSS and inertial data for high-accuracy positioning in dynamic environments.
- 3DM-CV7-AR & AHRS: Continue to enable high-performance orientation and heading data with adaptive filtering and magnetometer integration.
PX4 drivers are now available in the main PX4 repository, with support for USB and UART interfaces. Compatible with ROS1, ROS2, and HBK’s SensorConnect and InertialConnect tools, the update also supports open-source APIs via MSCL and MIP SDK for custom development.
This update simplifies the integration process for developers and expands the versatility of PX4-based systems. Whether building drones for industrial inspection, autonomous vehicles for mapping, or robotics platforms for research, the CV7 Series now offers expanded compatibility with one of the most widely used open-source flight stacks.
