In collaboration with Altice Labs and Youship, Beyond Vision demonstrated a new drone delivery service during Altice Labs’ 7th anniversary event, coordinating a combination of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) through 5G connectivity.
The demonstration featured Beyond Vision’s HEIFU Pro UAV, equipped with native 5G, transporting a package from collection to transfer point. Youship’s AGV prototype then completed final delivery, navigating streets and even entering building interiors.
5G technology enabled real-time communication between vehicles, facilitating mission transmission, command execution, telemetry collection, and live video streaming with minimal latency. MEO’s commercial network supported the UAV, while Altice Lab’s Private 5G Network solution powered the AGV.
The vehicles’ control systems communicated together to determine an optimal meeting point for package transfer, demonstrating the potential of UAV-AGV collaboration for future delivery services.
The precision delivery service concept involved the UAV embarking on the longest part of the route, with the AGV taking over for the final leg. This approach demonstrated versatility and adaptability in diverse environments.
Beyond Vision, Altice Labs, and Youship plan to enhance this system further, exploring additional functionalities and leveraging 5G capabilities. The companies assert that the initiative represents a significant step towards efficient, technologically advanced delivery solutions, setting the stage for future innovations in the delivery services landscape.
