IMSI & Wi-Fi Catcher Surveillance Devices for Drones

Revector's IMSI number and Wi-Fi tracking technology supports applications such as law enforcement and search and rescue By Mike Ball / 27 May 2022

imsi locatorRevector, a leading developer of cell site simulators and mobile phone surveillance solutions for security, intelligence and public safety applications, has partnered with Unmanned Systems Technology (“UST”) to demonstrate their expertise in this field. The ‘Silver’ profile highlights how the company’s field-proven IMSI number and Wi-Fi tracking technology, integrated into lightweight payloads for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and drones, supports a wide range of critical missions in challenging environments and hard-to-reach areas.

IMSI Catcher droneRevector Detector systems use state-of-the-art software to detect the broadcasting IMSIs – numbers that are unique to each mobile device and can be used to identify every user within a mobile network – within range, locking onto them with a silent call and then narrowing down the location with a sophisticated directional finder.

When Wi-Fi functionality is switched on, a mobile device is constantly seeking and interacting with new Wi-Fi networks – leaving a digital trace. Revector’s Wi-Fi catchers can be used to identify historic suspicious activity around buildings, locations, or specific places of high interest for criminal or terrorist activity.

Revector Detector IMSI tracking deviceThe Revector Detector IMSI Catcher drone payload provides detection, tracking and control of 2G, 3G and 4G mobile phones. Based around a dual SDR (software-defined radio), it extracts and records all IMSI, IMEI and TSMI data from devices in range, providing GPS location and timestamp.

The low-SWaP unit establishes a new mobile phone cell site, encouraging all GSM, UTMS and LTE devices in the area to connect. Once a target device is connected, the Revector Detector provides a range of capabilities, including:

  • Forcing 4G devices down to 2G/3G
  • GPS location extraction
  • Target battery draining
  • Selective jamming (Denial of Service)
  • SMS sending to target

Revector Detector systems are ideal for a wide range of applications, including airport and maritime security, border patrol, search and rescue, infrastructure protection, and law enforcement.
