Sealevel Systems explains the benefits of COM Express for embedded computing in a variety of industry applications, including autonomous vehicles and aircraft.
COM Express is an embedded computing specification. It is a sub-type of Small Form Factor computers and Computer On Module (COM) devices. COM devices are modular computers, printed on a single printed circuit board as a complete computer, including RAM and a microprocessor. They are a type of System on Chip and are standalone devices. COM Express entered the market in 2005 and has continually evolved to meet the increasing use of COM Express technology.
Sealevel leverages COM architecture to achieve future-proof technology, long product lifecycles, and SWaP-C2 optimization. The company’s custom COM Express systems combine the flexibility of the off-the-shelf modular COM with a custom carrier board that includes application specific I/O and interface connectors.
