The KG-255X is a highly versatile NSA-certified Type 1 Inline Network Encryptor (INE) that can operate either as a Layer 3 HAIPE or Layer 2 EDE, providing secure IP encryption for up to TS/SCI communications and delivering up to 2 Gbps (1 Gbps aggregate) throughput. It supports standard copper interfaces as well as single- and multi-mode fiber SFPs.

With a software-programmable architecture, the device supports configurations for one-to-one, many-to-one and many-to-many multicast scenarios, improving flexibility and reducing administrative overhead. In HAIPE mode, it can interoperate with other compliant devices, and provides VLAN/Ethernet tunneling over Layer 3 networks for Layer 2 data. In EDE-CIS mode, it can interoperate directly with Viasat’s Type 1 high speed Ethernet encryptors.

The rugged unit features highly efficient thermal design and power management, and is designed to MIL-STD-810G standards and compliant with MIL-STD-1275D and MIL-STD-704F specifications for in-vehicle and airborne equipment.
