The Zenith® (CAS150/170) from Silicon Sensing is a closed-loop, single-axis MEMS accelerometer designed for precise linear acceleration measurement in a compact surface-mount package. It provides a ±14g measurement range, 10 μg/√Hz noise spectral density, 2.5 μg rms typical bias instability, and a nominal bandwidth of 425 Hz typical. The device provides digital SPI® output for linear acceleration and temperature data and incorporates an internal temperature sensor. Its specified operating temperature range is -40°C to +105°C.
Zenith® is available in two sensing configurations: the CAS150 provides in-plane sensing, while the CAS170 provides orthogonal sensing. This allows multiple devices to be arranged for multi-axis measurement on a single printed circuit board assembly (PCBA). Both variants use a hermetically sealed ceramic LCC surface-mount package. CAS150 measures 10.4 × 6.0 × 2.2 mm, while CAS170 measures 10.4 × 6.7 × 2.7 mm. The preliminary technical data also specifies 1000g/1 ms ½-sine operational shock, 8 grms operational vibration from 20 Hz to 2 kHz, 70 μg/g² typical vibration rectification, and a typical 20 ms start-up time to full performance.
