Skyborne Technologies USA has secured placement for its Cerberus MI sUAS on the Department of War’s Blue UAS Cleared List, clearing the armed, reusable Group 2 platform for procurement and operation across the Department without an exception to policy.
The listing follows an independent assessment of Cerberus MI’s cybersecurity, supply chain, and Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI) posture against the Blue UAS standard. Managed by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), the cleared list confirms that the platform meets National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) requirements.
While the Blue UAS Cleared List includes one-way attack and FPV strike systems, the Cerberus MI represents a reusable and reloadable direct-fire UAS engineered around an expanding ecosystem of integrated weapon systems. The airframe was designed from the outset around the recoil of direct fire weapon systems rather than adapted from a commercial design, delivering repeatable kinetic effects without sacrificing the platform. Capable of employing standard 40mm low-velocity and 12-gauge ammunition, the aircraft returns from missions to reload and fly again, providing greater magazine depth and a low cost per shot.
“We’ve always believed that affordable mass isn’t just about building cheaper drones. It’s about delivering more effects from the same platform. Cerberus MI was designed around that principle — a reusable, reloadable direct-fire UAS with an expanding weapon ecosystem, using standard ammunition to deliver low cost per shot and greater magazine depth. Being added to the Blue UAS Cleared List is an important milestone as we continue bringing this capability to U.S. warfighters,” said Adrian Dudok, CEO USA.
Weighing 39.7 lbs., the man-packable platform flies for roughly 35 minutes with a weapon fitted. It carries Skyborne’s modular and interchangeable HAVOC 40mm LV and CHAOS 12-gauge weapon payloads, supported by EXITUS AI onboard targeting software. The software fuses EO, IR and laser rangefinder data to compute firing solutions and support human-in-the-loop engagements at 300+ meters of standoff.
“Cerberus MI was engineered as a reusable platform with a modular architecture that allows the capability to evolve over time. From expanding direct-fire weapon integrations to advancing autonomy and AI through our EXITUS software, our focus has been on building a system that can adapt to emerging operational requirements without continually replacing the underlying hardware,” said Michael Creagh, CEO APAC.
